We all need some encouragement for our hearts every now and then. There’s something about music that speaks to our hearts. Music has proven to be a wonderful outlet for those whose hearts need a little boost.
For me, playing the piano and finding song lyrics I identify with has always been healing. My parents probably caught me in tears of joy or sadness singing at the piano many times growing up! Because I have difficulty verbally expressing emotions at times, music has been a great means of expression for me. There’s nothing like a good song and lyrics to brighten your day!

There’s something about the straight-forwardness of these lyrics that is comforting to me. This song is a call to action: Ok, life knocked you down, but what will you do about it? Every time I listen to this song I am reminded that everyone on the earth has struggles, but it’s our response to them that makes a difference. This is life. Everyone is watching and waiting for your response to your situation. I dare you to pick yourself up and overcome rather than be defeated. You got this!

I love the Beatles! This sweet, folksy song just brightens things, doesn’t it? It almost feels as if someone who can make a difference is speaking words of encouragement directly to you. “Little darling, its all right. Don’t be upset by the long, cold winter because it will end soon. Here Comes the sun!” I can’t help but smile when I hear these lyrics!

When I’m needing encouragement to overcome my insecurities, this song speaks to me every time. Our life has purpose, and we were made to rise above our insecurities to be all that we have been created to be. We probably all need to hear this once in a while. Our Creator has endowed us with gifts and strengths. We just need the courage to pursue them and trust that He will give us all we need to accomplish our callings.
